About
About ADU Fee Map
ADU Fee Map answers one question for California homeowners: what will the city or county charge me to build a backyard home?
Fee schedules are long PDFs with dozens of lines, and most of them don’t say which lines an ADU pays. We read them, quote them, apply state law, and show the result at four common sizes and in a calculator. We track 22 places today and add more as we can read their schedules.
ADU Fee Map is independent. It isn’t affiliated with any city, county, state agency or builder, and it doesn’t sell leads. Any future paid placement will be labeled and kept apart from the data.
Using the data
The data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 (opens in new tab) with a link back. Download CSV or JSON.
Privacy
We use privacy-friendly analytics (PostHog, plus Cloudflare’s aggregate web analytics) to count page views and tool use. We never record what you type into the calculator’s valuation field, or your email address.
